Providence Bruins News Release

Providence Bruins goaltender Hannu Toivonen underwent successful arthroscopic surgery on his left knee on Tuesday in Providence, and is expected to be out of the lineup for 4-6 weeks. Team physician Dr. Paul Fadale performed the surgery. Toivonen, a 20-year-old native of Kalvola, Finland left Friday's game against the Albany River Rats in the second period after sustaining the injury.

"We are obviously very fortunate that Hannu's surgery was a success," said Bruins head coach Scott Gordon. "We now know that he will be back this season, and that he will be healthy again."

The Bruins host four games at the Dunkin' Donuts Center this week, beginning on Wednesday, February 23 at 7:05 p.m., when they face off with the Lowell Lock Monsters. They take on the Portland Pirates on Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m., before concluding the busy stretch on Sunday, February 27 at 4:05 p.m. against the Manchester Monarchs.
