Madden earns first AHL shutout in Bruin debut

The Providence Bruins and Springfield Falcons wrapped up their 10-game season series in front of 9,377 fans on Sunday afternoon at the Dunkin' Donuts Center, with the Bruins taking a 3-0 decision. Providence won the season series, 7-2-1-0. The Bruins are tied with the Worcester IceCats for fourth place in the Atlantic Division with their 27-20-3-6 record.

Goaltender Chris Madden, making his Bruin debut, stopped all 18 shots he faced for the first shutout of his 56-game AHL career. Madden has a career AHL record of 18-23-9 with the Bruins, Hamilton Bulldogs, Milwaukee Admirals and Toronto Roadrunners. He had been tied for this season's ECHL shutout lead, posting five with the Long Beach Ice Dogs.

Bruin center Brad Boyes tallied his 22nd goal of the season, a shorthanded marker with four seconds remaining in the first period. The goal proved to be the game-winner, tying him for the AHL lead with seven. Left wing Andy Hilbert notched his team-leading 29th goal of the season, while center Ben Guite added his sixth.

Center Keith Aucoin had an assist in the game, extending his point streak to six games (2-5-7), matching his career-best streak set earlier this season. Aucoin has points (6-10-16) in 11 of his last 12 games.

The Bruins host four games at the Dunkin' Donuts Center in the upcoming week, beginning on Wednesday, February 23 at 7:05 p.m., when they face off with the Lowell Lock Monsters. They take on the Portland Pirates on Friday and Saturday at 7:05 p.m., before concluding the busy stretch on Sunday, February 27 at 4:05 p.m. against the Manchester Monarchs.
