TEDDY BEAR TOSS TO TAKE PLACE ON FRIDAY
This Friday, Feb. 25 when the Hershey Bears visit the Wachovia Spectrum, the Phantoms will hold a Teddy Bear Toss. Fans are encouraged to bring new or gently used stuffed animals to the game, and then toss them onto the ice following the Phantoms' first goal. The stuffed animals will then be distributed to local shelters and children's hospitals. The Philadelphia Zoo will also be selling stuffed animals for $5 at the game if fans don't have any at home. In addition, the Philadelphia Zoo will be holding a raffle that will go towards the Phantoms adopting a polar bear through the Zoo's ADOPT (Animals Depend On People Too) program. The raffle winner will have the opportunity to join a Phantoms player at the Zoo to feed their female polar bears, Coldilocks and Klondike, and another animal.
NIITTYMAKI BOBBLEHEAD DOLL GIVEAWAY ON SUNDAY
The Phantoms will hold their first of three bobblehead doll nights this Sunday, Feb. 26 when the team takes on the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Wachovia Spectrum at 5:05 p.m. Antero Niittymaki bobblehead dolls will be given out to the first 4,000 kids (14 & under) in attendance. Two more bobblehead dolls featuring former head coach Bill Barber and legendary tough guy Frank "The Animal" Bialowas will take place later this season. NEXT TELEVISED GAME ON FRIDAY
Comcast SportsNet will air its eighth of 10 Phantoms games this season when the Hershey Bears visit the Wachovia Spectrum this Friday. Flyers radio announcer Tim Saunders will handle the play-by-play duties, while Flyers color commentator Steve Coates will provide his insight into the game. Coverage for the game begins at 7:00 p.m. The next telecast will be on Wednesday, March 9 in Lowell.
PHANTOMS TO DELIVER TEDDY BEARS TO LOCAL HOSPITALS
In conjunction with the Teddy Bear toss taking place at Friday's game, several Phantoms players and Phlex will be delivering stuffed animals to hospitals in the area. On Monday, Feb. 28, Riley Cote, R.J. Umberger and Phlex will be at the Shriners Hospital for Children at 3551 N. Broad St. at 11:45 a.m., and then later that afternoon at 1:30 p.m. they will visit St. Christopher's Hospital for Children at Erie Avenue and Front St. in Philadelphia. On Tuesday at 2:00, Jon Sim, Mark Murphy and Phlex will be at the Temple University Hospital at 3401 N. Broad St. On-air personalities from Sunny 104.5 will also be appearing with the Phantoms.
PHANTOMS MAKE SCHOOL APPEARANCES FOR READ ACROSS AMERICA WEEK
The Phantoms will once again be making several visits to area schools for Read Across America Week. On Monday, Randy Jones and Stephen Wood will visit the Charles Street School at 100 W. Charles St. in Palmyra, NJ to read to the third graders. The next day, Tuesday, March 1, Jeff Smith and B.J. Abel will be reading to the sixth grade students at the Warren E. Sooy Elementary School at 601 N. Fourth St. in Hammonton, NJ.
GRATTON TO APPEAR ON KYW MORNING NEWS PROGRAM
Phantoms forward and tough guy Josh Gratton will be appearing on the KYW-TV (Channel 3) morning news program on Wednesday morning between 6:00-7:00 a.m. Gratton will be participating in the traffic segment of the show with Bob Kelly, and then in the sports segment with Ukee Washington.
SAMUELSSON ON "RUMBLE WITH THE PHANTOMS" ON WEDNESDAY
Phantoms assistant coach Kjell Samuelsson will be the guest on the Phantoms' weekly radio show, "Rumble with the Phantoms," this Wednesday at 4:30 p.m. Hosted by Tom Shaw, the show features an interview, news on the team and ticket giveaways every Wednesday on WNJC (1360 AM). NEXT PHANTOMS POSTGAME SHOWS ON FRIDAY AND SUNDAY Can't get enough Phantoms action? Then stick around for The Phantoms Postgame Show at Bullies Sports Bar & Restaurant. Hosted by David Unkle of the Topcat Sports Show on WNJC 1360-AM, the Phantoms Postgame Show lets you get up close and personal with your favorite Phantoms player following 24 games throughout the season. VOCE AT POLONIA BANK FLYERS SKATE ZONE AT NE PHILADELPHIA ON SATURDAY
Phantoms left wing and Northeast Philadelphia native Tony Voce will be in his backyard on Saturday, Feb. 26 to sign autographs from 6:00-8:00 p.m. at the Polonia Bank Flyers Skate Zone in Northeast Philadelphia. The Skate Zone is located at 10990 Decatur Road. Fans are encouraged to stick around for the public skating session on Saturday night from 8:00-10:00 p.m.
NEXT CHALK TALK ON SUNDAY
The next Phantoms Chalk Talk for season ticket holders will be on Sunday at 2:00 p.m., prior to the game against the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins at the Wachovia Spectrum. Assistant coach Craig Berube will be the featured speaker at Bullies Sports Bar and Restaurant that afternoon.
REGISTRATION BEGINS FOR KIDS RUN THE SHOW NIGHT
Children ages 14 and under can stop by the Kids Club table on Friday or Sunday this weekend to sign up for the Phantoms' annual Kids Run The Show Night on March 6. Winners will have the chance to join the Phantoms' marketing, sales, public relations, operations, box office, fan development, game production and vice president staffs for a night.
MEXICAN VACATION GIVEAWAY REGISTRATION UNDER WAY
Apple Vacations will be giving away a free trip for four to Cancun, Mexico on Fan Appreciation Night on April 17 at the Wachovia Spectrum, as the Phantoms face the Norfolk Admirals in their final home game of the regular season at 5:05 p.m. Registration for the trip, which will include airfare and accommodations at Sol Melia resorts for five days and four nights, as well as all meals, drinks and tips, is under way at the Apple Vacations table set up on the concourse.
REGISTRATION BEGINS TO WIN HARLEY DAVIDSON
Stop by the Harley Davidson motorcycle display on the concourse to register to win a customized Harley Davidson Sportster beginning on Friday. The winner will be presented his/her new motorcycle on Fan Appreciation Night on Sunday, April 17 when the Phantoms take on the Norfolk Admirals.
FIRST JERSEY AUCTION TO TAKE PLACE ON MARCH 6
The first of three Phantoms jersey auctions will take place following the game on Sunday, March 6 when the team's 2003-04 purple third jerseys are put up on the block for charity. The auction will take place in Bullies immediately after the contest with the Wilkes-Barre/Scranton Penguins. The other jersey auctions this season will be on Friday, March 18 for special St. Patrick's Day jerseys and Sunday, April 3 when the team dons special Philadelphia Blazers replica jerseys.
TEAM BRACELETS ON SALE FOR CHARITY
Comcast-Spectacor Charities is now selling special team-related silicone bracelets of the Phantoms, Flyers and 76ers. The bracelets can be purchased at home games or ordered through the individual team websites, including www.phantomshockey.com, or by calling 215-389-9426. Each bracelet is a different color and has a different word for each team, including the purple "Dream" bracelet of the Phantoms, and each is $2 apiece. The bracelets have been an overwhelming success and the demand has been greater than the supply, so the Flyers Wives ask that fans please be patient in the delivery.
