Titans Defeat Royals in Shootout, 3-2

TRENTON, NJ (February 19, 2005) – For the second night in a row, Bryce Cockburn scored the game-winning goal for the Titans, this time in an overtime shootout, to give Trenton a 3-2 victory over the Reading Royals in front of 5,637 fans at Sovereign Bank Arena.

The Royals jumped ahead early as Paul Cabana tipped a Frederic Belanger slapshot past Andrew Allen for the game's first goal.

The Titans struck back just 45 seconds later. For the second consecutive game a Titans defensemen scored his first goal of the game. Evan Nielsen scored at 4:59 in the first period to tie the game at 1-1. Matt Zultek and Nick Deschenes, who had two points on the evening,

Bryce Cockburn delivered a critical goal in regulation for the second night in a row. His seventh of the season at 14:00 in the second period gave the Titans a 2-1 lead over the Reading Royals.

Reading tied it early in the third when former Titan Cail MacLean scored his 11th goal of the season at 9:04.

Neither team scored again in regulation or overtime, sending the game to a shootout.

In the shootout, Bryce Cockburn and Brent Robinson scored for the Titans, while Andrew Allen stopped every Royals shot to seal the victory. Allen had 24 saves for his 15th win of the season.
