DAYTON, Ohio – Peter Aubry stopped a season-high 40 shots and linemates Chris Minard and Scott Gomez assisted on all three Alaska goals as the Aces cruised by Dayton 3-1 Sunday afternoon before 3,769 at the E.J. Nutter Center.

In a match-up featuring the league's lowest-scoring team (Dayton) and the second-highest scoring club (Alaska), the first period transpired as one might expect, with the Bombers out-shooting the Aces by a healthy margin but failing to break through against Aubry, who stopped all 16 shots he faced. Meanwhile, after killing a pair of Dayton power plays, the Aces struck first, as Charles Linglet tapped in a Minard shot that had whistled off the goal post at 15:58.

The second period proved to be more of the same, as the Bombers (dead last on the power play among 28 ECHL teams) wasted two more opportunities with the man advantage and were held scoreless despite firing 14 more shots on goal. Meanwhile, Alaska scored for the first time on seven tries on the power play during this road trip, as Mike Scott whistled a wrist shot by Simon Lajeunesse at 15:56 for a 2-0 advantage heading into the locker room.

Mike Jones pushed the margin to 3-0 with another power play goal at 3:44 of the final period, his seventh of the year. Brett Nowak foiled Aubry's shutout bid with 10:31 left in regulation, as Dayton finally got on the board with its 37th shot, but that would be all the scoring as the Alaska goalie improved to 10-2-3 in his last 15 outings while the Aces remained unbeaten in their last eight road games (7-0-1).

Next up for Alaska (31-15-5 overall, 12-2-1 in its last 15) on this trip through the Midwest will be Toledo, a game that will be played Wednesday morning at 6:30 a.m. AST but broadcast on a tape delay basis at 9:00 a.m. on KFQD AM 750. The Aces wrap up their five-game road trip Thursday night back in Peoria at 4:00 p.m. AST. That contest will be broadcast live on KHAR AM 590.
