San Diego, Calif. - Max Birbraer and Sylvain Deschatelets notched three points apiece to lead the San Diego Gulls to a 7-3 victory over the Bakersfield Condors at the Sports Arena on Saturday night.

Despite managing just six first period shots, the Gulls broke out of the gates with a 3-0 lead through 20 minutes. Max Birbraer, Guillaume Fournier and Brian Gornick all lit the lamp on Condors starter Yutaka Fukufuji, who had allowed seven goals in his last two periods of play. Gornick's goal came with two tenths of a second remaining on the clock.

The Condors cut the lead to two with Mike Hofstrand's power play tally early in the second, but it wouldn't last. Darren Clark chipped home his eighth of the season to make it 4-2. Brad Mehalko's 15th goal of the season late in the second kept the Condors in the game through two periods.

Paul Rosebush made it 4-3 at 7:08 of the third, but the Gulls quickly responded. They scored twice in the next three minutes to quell the comeback and added an insurance tally for the final score. The Condors slipped to three points behind the Long Beach Ice Dogs for the top spot in the West, as they downed Vegas 5-3.

The Condors return home for Sunday's match against Long Beach at 2:00 p.m. That game, everyone in attendance will get a "Year of the Condor" poster featuring Dennis Shiryaev, Guy Dupuis, Paul Rosebush, David Kudelka and Yutaka Fukufuji. Univision, the Groove 99.3 and Body Xchange sponsor the posters.

Individual tickets can be purchased at the Centennial Garden box office, which opens at 10:00am Monday through Saturday, by calling Ticketmaster at 322-2525, online at ticketmaster.com or stopping by any Ticketmaster location. Season and group tickets may be purchased by calling 324-PUCK (7825) or by visiting the Condors office next to Centennial Garden.
