Adam Berkhoel made 29 saves for the Gladiators while Mike Vigilante netted a pair of goals to help the Gladiators to a 2-1 win over the Charlotte Checkers in front of 6,600 at the Arena at Gwinnett Center on Sunday afternoon.

Gwinnett took a 1-0 lead on Mike Vigilante's 20th goal of the season as he flipped the puck past Charlotte netminder Kelly Guard off the post and into the net. Brad Schell and Kris Goodjohn picked up the helpers on the power play goal at 2:53 of the second period.

Vigilante netted his 2nd goal of the night giving the Gladiators a 2-0 lead ripping the puck past Guard at 7:02 of the second period. The puck squirted out of a pile up in the slot to a waiting Vigilante in the left wing face off circle where the winger put it home. Goodjohn added his second assist of the night on the tally while Rick Emmett picked up the other assist on the goal.

Charlotte answered Vigilante's second goal 27 seconds later. Mike Wirll slid the puck under Gladiators netminder Adam Berkhoel to cut the Gwinnett lead to one. Thomas Bellemare and Kenton Smith recorded the assists on the goal at 7:29 of the second period.

Berkhoel shutdown the Checkers in the third period as the Gladiators improved to 25-16-7 on the season in the win. Gwinnett went 1-for-3 on the man advantage while extending their penalty killing streak to six consecutive game without giving up an opponent power play goal.
