Fort Wayne TinCaps News Release
FORT WAYNE, Ind. - RHP Matt Jackson fired five scoreless innings in his first start of the year as the TinCaps rolled, 6-1, over the South Bend Silver Hawks, Thursday at Parkview Field. Nate Freiman had two hits and two RBIs.
Freiman got the scoring started in the bottom of the first. With runners at the corners, he lined a single to center, plating Danny Payne. Jedd Gyorko followed with another run-scoring base hit to right to make it 2-0.
Fort Wayne got to the Silver Hawks again in the sixth; Danny Payne reached on a one-out single and stole second and third bases on consecutive pitches. Jeudy Valdez yanked an RBI single to left. Later in the inning, Edinson Rincon drew a bases-loaded walk to push the Fort Wayne lead to 4-0.
In the seventh, Jason Hagerty lifted a sacrifice fly to center and Freiman followed with a run- scoring single, making it a 6-0 game.
