Today's Game: The Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) host the Hot Rods (affiliate of the Tampa Bay Rays) in the second game of a three-game set. This is game eight of the Dragons nine-game home stand.
Season Series: Dayton 8, Bowling Green 7 (At Dayton: Bowling Green 6, Dayton 3).
Streaks: Dayton: Lost 7 (Lost 14 of last 15). Bowling Green: Won 1 (Lost 7 of last 11).
Last Game: Bowling Green defeated Dayton 5-3 in the first game of the three-game set. Hot Rods starting pitcher Kyle Lobstein and two relievers combined to allow just six hits (only one hit over the last six innings). The Dragons took a 3-2 lead in the third on a two-run home run by Cameron Satterwhite and held the lead until Bowling Green scored three in the sixth. A two-run double by Ty Morrison broke a 3-3 tie. Satterwhite was 2 for 4 to lead Dayton with the homer along with a single and a walk.
Today's Starting Pitcher: Tim Crabbe makes his ninth start of the season tonight. He has also made two relief appearances. Crabbe's last start was last Wednesday vs. Cedar Rapids and he suffered the loss (4.0 IP, 6 H, 4 R, 4 ER, 4 BB, 5 SO). He opened the 2010 season in extended spring training before joining the Dragons for one start on May 22 vs. Bowling Green (4.2 IP, 5 H, 4 R, 3 ER, 3 BB, 3 SO), then returned to Goodyear. He re-joined Dragons on June 5. Crabbe spent last season at Billings and went 1-7, 4.86 in 14 starts. He was the Reds 14th round draft pick out of Westmont (Cal.) College.
Individual Notes
* Mark Fleury is batting .366 over his last 20 games. Fleury is fifth in the Midwest League in slugging percentage in the second half at .613. He is batting .365 in July to rank eighth in the league. He is batting .338 in the second half to lead the team.
* Henry Rodriguez has hit safely in six straight games and 32 of his last 35 games. He is tied for fifth in the Midwest League in extra base hits with 42, tied for fourth in doubles with 30, and tied for fifth in hits with 112. He is batting .325 over his last 46 games with 17 doubles and five home runs. He is hitting .320 in the second half to rank second on the team.
* Ryan LaMarre went 7 for 15 in the last series vs. Quad Cities. He did not play last night.
* The Dragons roster includes two players who are ranked among the Reds top 30 prospects by Baseball America. They are shortstop Didi Gregorius (#15) and pitcher J.C. Sulbaran (#25).
