
TinCaps' Late Rally Sinks Captains 5-4

(Fort Wayne, IN)- Fernando Perez lined a double to the gap in left field and Ronnie Richardson scored from first base as the TinCaps beat the Captains 5-4 on Friday Night. The double occurred in the eighth inning and was Perez's 14th RBI against the Captains this season.
Fernando Perez smoked his 12th homerun of the season way over the wall in right-center field and Fort Wayne got out to the early 1-0 lead in the first inning. Perez has now hit three of his 12 homers off of Captains pitching this season.
With two runners on and nobody out, Claudio Bautista lined a single to center field and the Captains tied the ballgame 1-1 in the top of the fifth inning. Lake County sent eight batters to the plate in the inning. Paul Hendrix doubled home a pair to give the Captains a 3-1 lead. Hendrix then raced home on the 25th two-bagger of the season for Nellie Rodriguez. The Captains led 4-1 after five innings.
In the bottom of the seventh inning, Fort Wayne tied the ballgame. Jake Bauers walked, John Nester doubled and Henry Charles blasted his sixth homer of the season, over the right field fence, and the score was tied at 4-4 after seven innings.
RHP Dace Kime (6-13) took the mound for Lake County. Kime pitched six innings and allowed six hits and four earned runs. Kime walked one and fanned six. Dace allowed two homers. Robbie Aviles pitched a perfect inning. Caleb Hamrick pitched one inning and allowed one earned run, on one hit, three walks and two strikeouts. Hamrick (3-8) took the loss.
RHP Kyle Lloyd (5-4) started the game for the TinCaps. Lloyd pitched five innings and allowed seven hits, four unearned runs and he struck out eight. The Tincaps used three pitchers in relief. The win went to Erik Cabrera (4-7). The save went to Ryan Butler his seventh of the season.
Lake County will continue a six-game road trip on Saturday. The Captains will play game two of a three-game series with Fort Wayne. Lake County will give the ball to LHP Luis Lugo (6-9, 5.43) and the TinCaps will counter with LHP Jeffery Enloe (4-4, 3.15). First Pitch will be at 7:05 PM from Parkview Field in Fort Wayne, IN.
