Cedar Rapids Kernels News Release

Cedar Rapids, IA - Kernels players and members of the Kernels front office staff have accepted the Ice Bucket Challenge for ALS Awareness and will do so on Monday, August 18th at noon on the main concourse at Perfect Game Field right inside the main gates.

Members of the Kernels and the front office will have the bucket of water dumped on them around noon and a donation to ALS will be made by the Kernels staff and players as a group.

The Kernels accepted the challenge put forth by the ALS Association Iowa Chapter and the New Britain Rock Cats, the Twins Double-A affiliate, and, in turn, would like to challenge the three other Iowa teams in the Midwest League: Clinton, Burlington and Quad Cities.

The purpose of the challenge is to accept the challenge and pour a bucket of ice water over your head, make a donation to ALS or both. Donations can be made by visiting the ALS website at www.als.org.

The Kernels begin a six game home stand tonight vs. Peoria at 6:35 pm with the gates opening at 5:30 pm. The upcoming home stand continues through Wednesday, August 20th.
