SUNDAY AFTERNOON: Luis Patiño struck out a career-high 9 batter as the TinCaps beat the Whitecaps, 5-2. With the victory, Fort Wayne retains its position for the MWL eastern Division's second half wild card playoff spot.

PITCHER OF THE WEEK: On International Lefthanders Day, southpaw Osvaldo Hernandez has been named the Midwest League's Pitcher of the Week. Last Thursday Hernandez faced the minimum over 6 innings at Lake County. He allowed just a single and a hit batter, and had those baserunners negated with a double play and a pickoff. The 20-year-old from Cuba has the MWL's lowest ERA at 1.81.

THOMPSON'S RETURN: Starter Mason Thompson will make his 1st appearance since being placed on the disabled list on July 18 because of a right triceps strain. Before being placed on the DL, Thompson made 18 appearances, including 16 starts, with a 4.95 ERA in 76.1 IP. Since a rough start in April, Mason has posted a 3.45 ERA since the beginning of May.

ALL ROSEY: Jeisson Rosario slashed .269/.381/.322 in the first half, and since the All-Star break is at .289/.380/.409 in 43 games. He had 7 extra-base hits in the first half and already has 14 so far in the second half.

MELLY ON: Kelvin Melean had 3 hits Saturday night and 2 more on Sunday. Through his first 28 games as a TinCap, he has 9 multi-hit games (6 2-hit games, 2 3-hit games, and 1 4-hit game).

MILLER TIME: Owen Miller has hit safely in each of his first 5 games as a TinCap, going 9-for-22 (.409) with 2 homers and 3 RBIs.

ARI-SERIOUS?!: Gabriel Arias is on a 21-game on-base streak going back to July 19. In this range, he's hit .301 with a .420 OBP, 5 doubles, 2 homers, 12 RBIs, and a stolen base. In his first 83 games of the season, Arias had a slash line of .215/.273/.275 with 1 homer. This is the 2nd longest active on-base streak in the league behind only Kane County's Eudy Ramos.

SELLOUT CITY: The TinCaps had their 15th sellout of the season on Saturday with a crowd of 8,456 - the 3rd largest of the year here. Fort Wayne has drawn 332,729 fans for an average of 5,636 across 59 openings. The TinCaps rank 2nd out of 100 Single-A/Short-Season teams in attendance, and better than 27 out of 30 Double-A clubs and 13 of 30 in Triple-A.

MARCH TO 4 MILLION: The TinCaps are 11,248 fans away from drawing their 4,000,000th fan at Parkview Field in the ballpark's 10th season. On the night that the team hits the 4-million milestone, 1 fan will receive $4,000 in TinCaps hospitality, season tickets, merchandise, and other prizes. 10 other fans will receive $400 gift cards and 20 fans will receive $100 gift cards (so a grand total of $10,000 will be given away).

LEFTHANDERS DAY: The TinCaps currently have 6 left-handed pitchers and 2 left-handed batters.

ON THE SHELF: The TinCaps currently have 4 key players on the Disabled List in catcher Luis Campusano (mild concussion), infielder Justin Lopez (broken left thumb), and outfielders Robbie Podorsky (back spasms) and Tirso Ornelas (right hand bone bruise).
