Peoria, IL - Jake Dahlberg spun a gem for the Peoria Chiefs going the distance in a 4-0 shutout loos for the Clinton LumberKings on Monday night at Dozer Park. The LumberKings (23-27, 62-58) out hit the Chiefs (30-18, 69-49), 8-to-7, in their sixth shutout loss of the season.

Dahlberg (2-1) in just his third start of the year for Peoria earned his second win of the season for his first complete game shutout of his professional career. The start was the first time this season that the LumberKings have been shutout in a complete game by an opposing pitcher.

Dahlberg scattered the eight hits he allowed to LumberKings batters and walked none while striking out six. Only once, in the top of the second inning, did he allow a LumberKing to reach third. Dahlberg needed 104 pitches to navigate his complete game shutout.

Scott Boches started for Clinton and turned in five strong innings but was hung with his fifth loss of the season. He allowed two runs on four hits while walking two and striking out five.

The Chiefs scored their first runs of the night in the bottom of the third off Boches (2-5). After striking out the first two batters in the inning, the Chiefs rallied with three straight hits. Back-to-back doubles by Rayder Ascanio and JR Davis brought home the first run and Nolan Gorman forced home Davis with an RBI single to right.

Randy Bell followed Boches of the bullpen and allowed a run in each of his two innings of work.

In the top of the sixth, Luken Baker doubled with one out and scored five pitches later on an RBI single by Julio Rodriguez.

Ascanio then led of the bottom of the seventh with the longest at-bat of the season turned in against LumberKings pitching. The Chiefs shortstop fought off 11 pitches to stay alive and drew a walk on the 16th pitch of the bat. A wild pitch and ground out moved him to third before Gorman collected his second RBI of the night with a sacrifice fly to center.

The shutout by Dahlberg was the first by a left-handed pitcher for the Chiefs since 2004 also against the LumberKings.

The LumberKings will meet the Peoria Chiefs for the finale of their four-game series on Tuesday night. Clinton will throw right-hander Tyler Jackson (1-2, 6.46) while the Chiefs will tap righty Johan Oviedo (9-7, 4.53). First pitch is slated for 7:00 PM.
