Today's Game: The Dayton Dragons (affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds) meet the Great Lakes Loons (affiliate of the Los Angeles Dodgers) in the third game of a four-game series. This is game 12 of a 13-game, 14-day road trip for the Dragons.

Dragons Record to Date on the Trip: 2-9. Season Series vs. Loons: Dayton 8, Great Lakes 5. Current Series: Loons 2, Dragons 0.

Last Game: Sunday: Great Lakes 1, Dayton 0. The Loons scored the only run of the game with one out in the bottom of the ninth inning when Chris Roller delivered a single to left with the bases loaded. Dragons pitchers worked out of tough jams in three previous innings to keep the game scoreless. The Loons had a runner at third with no outs in the fifth and sixth innings and a man at third with one out in the seventh, but failed to capitalize on any of those opportunities. The Dragons collected just three hits in the game and were unable to advance a runner past second base. Dragons starter Packy Naughton had his second straight scoreless outing, working five innings and striking out seven while allowing three hits and one walk.

Playoff Chase: The Dragons must finish in the top two among eligible teams in the East Division in the Second Half (six teams competing; Bowling Green and Lansing ineligible). The Dragons are currently two and one-half games behind Fort Wayne in the race for the #2 seed in the Second Half. The five teams battling for the #2 seed in the Second Half race are separated by just two and one-half games.

2018 Team Notes

The Dragons opened their current 13-game road trip with a win at Fort Wayne, but they have since lost nine of 10 games including the last six. They have scored four runs or less in all nine losses. During the last 10 games, they are averaging 2.7 runs per game while batting .232 (77-332) with a team ERA of 4.85 (81.2 IP, 44 ER).

2018 Individual Notes

Alejo Lopez over his last 26 games since July 15: 36 for 94, .383, to raise his average from .247 to .322. Lopez's .383 average since July 15 ranks second among players on the 30 teams at the Single-A classification (Midwest League and South Atlantic League) and 10th among all players playing at the full-season level in Minor League Baseball (120 teams). Lopez had a 14-game hitting streak end on Sunday (0 for 2, walk). He went 24 for 58 (.414) during the hitting streak. This was the longest streak by a Dragons player in 2018 and tied for 16th longest in franchise history.
