About Last Game : For the third night in a row at Lake County, the TinCaps lost by a run. Following consecutive 8-7 setbacks, Fort Wayne was bested 6-5 Saturday. The Captains walked off in the bottom of the ninth inning when Dustin Peterson committed a throwing error from third base to second base on an attempted force out. His throw went into right field, enabling Paul Hendrix to score the winning run from second.
A TinCaps Win Would : Gain ground in the Eastern Division Wild Card race... Be their second in a row at home.
Scoreboard Watching : With 9 games, and days, remaining in the regular season, Fort Wayne trails Great Lakes by 2.5 for the wild card. The TinCaps are also 2.0 back of Dayton and 1.5 behind Bowling Green. The Dragons host the Loons today at 4:00 p.m.
No Rest for the Weary : The TinCaps didn't arrive back to Parkview Field from Lake County until after 3:00 a.m. this morning. Meanwhile, the Hot Rods' game Saturday night at home against Great Lakes was cancelled due to rain. The game wasn't called until close to midnight EST. Bowling Green then had a of nearly six hours from Kentucky to Fort Wayne.
Home Run Record in Sight : After Henry Charles homered Saturday, the TinCaps have 94 home runs this season - 3rd most of the 16 teams in the Midwest League. Fort Wayne has exceeded its home run totals from each of the last 4 years. The franchise record for longballs in a season is 97 and was set in 2009 when the TinCaps won the MWL title.
Best in the Midwest : Fernando Perez's 87 RBI lead the MWL, while Dustin Peterson is tied for 4th with 77... Kyle Lloyd's 141 strikeouts are 2nd most.
Packed Parkview Field : The TinCaps have hosted 24 sell-out crowds this season with 6 home dates remaining. The only Fort Wayne season with more sellouts was 2010 (26). Parkview Field has averaged 5,849 fans per game. The team's total attendance of 374,351 is its most ever through 64 openings.
