Modesto Nuts News Release
Modesto, C.A. - Three two-out strokes backed Parker French in the Modesto Nuts' 6-4 victory over the High Desert Mavericks at John Thurman Field on Thursday night.
With the bottom of the first extended on an error, Shane Hoelscher cranked a two-out, two-run homer to put the Nuts (13-20) on the board first.
After the Mavs (22-12) tied it in the fourth, the Nuts responded in the very next half inning. Emerson Jimenez cranked a two-run triple to right center to take the lead back. In the fifth, Collin Ferguson delivered a two-run blast to right.
The Nuts got to Mavs starter David Ledbetter (L, 1-3) for six runs over seven innings.
Parker French (W, 2-0) continued his reign over the California League. The righty has allowed just two earned runs over his first three starts with the Nuts. French worked seven innings, allowed just one earned run, struck out five and surrendered just four hits.
Jerry Vasto (S, 5-6) worked a spotless ninth to snap the Nuts' three-game skid.
The Nuts head to San Jose to open a four-game set on Friday night. First pitch is at 7:00 p.m. Coverage on ModestoNuts.com will start at 6:55 p.m. Listen live online.
