Lake Elsinore: The Lake Elsinore Storm defeated Inland Empire 9-3 at The Diamond on Wednesday and made it two consecutive wins over the 66ers. With the loss, Inland Empire fell to 10-23 on the season and 2-17 against the California League's Southern Division.
The San Diego Padres' top prospect Javier Guerra had a big night at the plate for the Storm (15-18) going 3-for-4 and connecting on his fourth homer of the season. He scored a pair of runs and knocked in three. Luis Urias, the youngest player in the Cal League (18) had three hits in the win to raise his average to .306. Storm starter Thomas Dorminy (1-4) picked up his first win of the season with six frames of one run, four hit work with a walk and a K.
Justin Anderson (1-4) took the loss for the Sixers as he surrendered eight runs on nine hits in 3.1IP. The Sixers did have ten hits in the loss. Michael Strentz had a double and triple while Jose Briceno and Ryan Sebra had two hits apiece. Tim Arakawa singled in the sixth inning to extend his hitting streak to 17 games. On the mound, Keynan Middleton had the rare four-strikeout inning in the eighth as a batter reached base via a passed ball in the frame.
