RANCHO CUCAMONGA, Calif. - Drew Ferguson hit a home run in the first inning to begin a 13-hit attack that helped the JetHawks avoid a sweep with a 7-3 win against Rancho Cucamonga Quakes on Thursday night at LoanMart Field.

The early run support helped starter Scott Weathersby (1-3) notch his first victory of the season. The right-hander went five innings, allowing two runs on seven hits with three strikeouts. He walked one batter.

Ferguson's homer came with one out in the first inning against Josh Sborz (3-2). The opposite field shot was the outfielder's second of the season.

Lancaster (12-19) added single runs in the second and third innings. Jamie Ritchie started the second with a double off the centerfield wall and scored on Bryan Muniz's single. It was the first of three hits on the day for Muniz. Bobby Boyd led off the third inning with a bunt single, moved to second on a walk, stole third and then scored on a Nick Tanielu groundout.

The Quakes (23-11) got on the board with two runs in the fourth but the JetHawks would answer with two of their own in the sixth. Alejandro Garcia reached on a dropped third strike and came around on Mark Wik's triple. Wik would later score on a Kristian Trompiz sacrifice fly.

Garcia whacked his third hit of the game to lead off the eighth, a double off the wall in right field. He scored on a Muniz single.

Rancho Cucamonga loaded the bases with nobody out against reliever Yeyfry Del Rosario in the eighth. Eric Peterson came on and allowed only one run to score on a sacrifice fly. He pitched two perfect innings to pick up his first save.

Lancaster added its final run in the ninth. Ferguson reached on an infield-single, stole second and scored on a Tanielu single. Tanielu had two RBIs in the game to up his team-leading total to 23.
