Timberwolves Re-Assign Nathan Jawai To Skyforce

Sioux Falls, S.D. (March 31, 2010) - The Sioux Falls Skyforce announced today that the Minnesota Timberwolves have re-assigned forward Nathan Jawai. He will join the team in Sioux Falls today and be in uniform this weekend for the final two regular season games on the road against the Bakersfield Jam. The active roster now stands at 11 players.

The second-year forward appeared in 39 games, two starts, for the Timberwolves this season, averaging 3.2 points and 2.7 rebounds in 10.6 minutes. He averaged 6.0 points in 3.0 rebounds in two home wins over the Dakota Wizards on Feb. 19 and 20 during his first stint with the Skyforce.

During his rookie campaign, Jawai played in six games for the Toronto Raptors and was assigned to the Idaho Stampede. During his two assignments in Boise he averaged 11.1 points and 6.4 rebounds while shooting 52.6 percent from the field in 14 games.

Originally selected in the second round (41st overall) of the 2008 NBA Draft by the Indiana Pacers, Jawai was acquired by the Raptors from Indiana on July 9, 2008. He was traded from Toronto to the Dallas Mavericks on July 9, 2009 before being acquired by the Timberwolves from Dallas on Oct. 20, 2009.

Prior to entering the NBA Draft, Jawai played one season in the Australian National Basketball League (NBL) where he averaged 17.3 points and 9.4 rebounds for the Cairns Taipans.

The Skyforce's next game is on Friday, April 2 on the road against the Bakersfield Jam. Tipoff is set for 9 p.m. CT at the Jam Events Center.
