Portland Timbers News Release
PORTLAND, Ore. - Facing a quick turnaround, the Portland Timbers square off against Los Angeles FC in the quarterfinal round of the Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup on Wednesday, July 10, at Banc of California Stadium. Beginning at 7:30 p.m. (Pacific), the match will be broadcast on ESPN+. The Timbers then return to Providence Park to play host to the Colorado Rapids, in a match presented by KeyBank, on Saturday, July 13; kickoff is set for 8 p.m. (Pacific). Saturday's match features a television broadcast on FOX 12 PLUS (KPDX) with local radio broadcasts on 1029 and 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
U.S. Open Cup history
The Timbers advanced to the quarterfinal round of the tournament for a second consecutive season and the fourth time in club history (2013, 2014, 2018, 2019) with a 4-0 win against the LA Galaxy on June 19 at Providence Park. Since 2013, Portland has nine victories over MLS teams in U.S. Open Cup play, which is tied for second-most during that span. Wednesday's contest will be the third meeting between Portland and LAFC across all competitions this season, and marks the second time the two teams have squared off in U.S. Open Cup play. In last season's U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal matchup, the Timbers fell 3-2 to LAFC at Banc of California Stadium on July 18, 2018.
Recent form
Portland (7-8-2, 23pts) earned a 1-0 win on the road against New York City FC on July 7 to improve to 9-3-1 in its last 13 matches in all competitions. The Timbers have won five of their last six matches in all competitions, posting four shutouts during that span, while outscoring their opponents, 13-3. Portland has registered seven league wins since April 20, which is tied for the second-most wins by any MLS team during that span.
Against Colorado
Saturday's match marks the 22nd meeting all-time between Portland and Colorado. The Timbers are 10-7-4 all-time against the Rapids, including a mark of 8-1-0 at Providence Park. Portland has won eight consecutive matches at home against Colorado, including a 2-0 win on Sept. 8, 2018. In the nine previous meetings between the two clubs at Providence Park, the Timbers have outscored the Rapids, 16-4. Individually, Diego Valeri has seven goals in his career against Colorado.

The Timbers play host to Orlando City SC on Thursday, July 18, at Providence Park. Beginning at 7 p.m. (Pacific), the match will feature a national television broadcast on ESPN with local radio broadcasts on 1029 and 750 The Game (English) and La GranD 1150AM/93.5 FM (Spanish).
