Orlando City SC News Release
4 with 5 - Goal-scoring depth
Dom Dwyer's spectacular header on Sunday in Philadelphia was his fifth goal of the season, making him the fourth Orlando City player to reach five goals in 2019, after Nani (8), Tesho Akindele (6), and Chris Mueller (5). Orlando are the only team in all of MLS to sport four five-goal scorers. Only Houston, NYCFC, and Sporting Kansas City have even three.
2 - First career goals
Santiago Patino's goal on Sunday was the first of his professional career. The Orlando native was drafted third overall from Florida International University this past January. Patino joins Benji Michel as Lions rookies to score their first professional goals this season, with Michel's coming in extra time of Orlando City's U.S. Open Cup fourth round game against New England.
14 - Subs contributing
Nani picked up his seventh assist of the year on Dwyer's goal on Sunday, while Patino scored with his first touch off the bench in the 82nd minute. Overall, Orlando have six goals and eight assists this season from substitutes. Nani, in particular, has been enormous coming on late- in each of the three games he's appeared off the bench in the league, he's had either a goal or an assist.
4 - Quarterfinal appearances
Wednesday night marks the fourth Lamar Hunt U.S. Open Cup quarterfinal in Orlando City history. The Lions first reached the last eight in 2013 as a USL squad, then returned to the round as an MLS club in 2015 and 2018. Orlando have never reached the Open Cup semifinals.
10 - O'Connor Open Cup wins
James O'Connor continues to be among the most successful U.S. Open Cup head coaches. The gaffer is 10-4 all-time in the competition between his stints at Louisville City and Orlando City. O'Connor has the second-most USOC wins of any coach in the quarterfinal, behind only Minnesota's Adrian Heath, who took the majority of his Open Cup wins with Orlando from 2011-16.
