July 9, 2019 - Major League Soccer (MLS)
New York City FC News Release
NEW YORK, N.Y. - New York City FC is pleased to announce that midfielder Maxi Moralez was voted MLS Player of the Month presented by EA SPORTS™ for the month of June by members of the media.
Moralez also earned his first MLS All-Star call up and will participate in the game on July 31. He is the first NYCFC player to be voted Player of the Month since David Villa in June 2017.
The Argentine playmaker scored three goals and recorded six assists across three games in June, leading NYCFC to emphatic wins over FC Cincinnati and the Philadelphia Union as well as a road draw at Columbus Crew SC.
In addition to his league form last month, Moralez helped the Boys in Blue reach the quarterfinals of the 2019 Lamar U.S. Open Cup for the first time in Club history with victories over North Carolina FC and D.C. United.
New York City FC continues their U.S. Open Cup campaign against Orlando City SC tomorrow night, before heading across the Hudson River to take on Red Bulls on Sunday in league play.
As part of the award, EA SPORTS FIFA 19 will release a special FIFA Ultimate Team (FUT) item to honor the recipients. Moralez can now be unlocked via a special Squad Building Challenge in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team.
MLS Player of the Month presented by EA SPORTS is voted upon by a panel of select national media members in a process conducted by MLS Communications.
Everyone at NYCFC would like to congratulate Maxi on this latest award.
