New York City FC Midfielder Maxi Moralez Voted MLS Player of the Month Presented by EA SPORTS

NEW YORK - New York City FC midfielder Maxi Moralez was voted the MLS Player of the Month presented by EA SPORTS™ by members of the media for the month of June of the 2019 MLS season.

As part of every MLS Player of the Month award this season, EA SPORTS FIFA 19 will release a special FUT item to honor the winning player, this month recognizing Moralez for this tremendous June performance. Moralez can be unlocked via a special Squad Building Challenge now live in FIFA 19 Ultimate Team.

Moralez finished June with three goals and six assists in three matches played, helping his club to a 2-0-1 record in the month. The Argentine has six goals this season to go along with 11 assists, second-most in the league. NYCFC is fifth in the Eastern Conference with 29 points (7-2-8 overall record) and has one loss in its previous 13 matches.

NYCFC began the month with a 2-2 draw at Columbus Crew SC in which Moralez assisted on Héber's goal on June 1. In NYCFC's next match, Moralez then scored a goal and added two assists in a 5-2 victory on June 6 at Yankee Stadium. Moralez assisted on goals by Alexandru Mitrita and Héber in the match's opening 20 minutes before capping the day with a goal in the 90th minute.

Moralez continued to flex his playmaking prowess with two goals and two assists in a 4-2 home win over the Philadelphia Union on June 29. After falling behind early, Moralez pulled NYCFC even with penalty kick goals in the 23rd and 55th minute of the match. Moralez then furthered NYCFC's lead with assists on a pair of goals by Valentín Castellanos in the 71st ( watch assist) and 78th minute.

NYCFC returns to MLS regular season action on Sunday, July 14 when facing the New York Red Bulls at Red Bull Arena (6:30 p.m. ET, FS1 / FOX Deportes / FOX Sports Go / TSN1).

MLS Player of the Month presented by EA SPORTS is voted upon by a panel of select national media members in a process conducted by MLS Communications.
