
Timbers Shut out Houston Dynamo FC 2-0 at BBVA Stadium

HOUSTON, Texas - The Portland Timbers registered two first-half goals to secure a 2-0 shutout win on the road against Houston Dynamo FC at BBVA on Friday night. Yimmi Chara opened the scoring early in the half with his third goal of the season, while Felipe Mora extended the lead just moments later, recording his team-leading ninth goal of the campaign.

With the win, the Timbers are unbeaten in their last six regular season matches (4-0-2) against the Houston Dynamo, dating back to May 15, 2019. Portland leads the all-time regular series against Houston 9-5-6. Notably, tonight's result was the first time the Timbers have earned three points against the Dynamo on the road. Portland finished the 2021 series versus Houston with a mark of 2-0-1, outscoring them 6-3.
More Goals From Mora
Scoring in a second consecutive match, Mora notched his team-leading ninth goal of the season with his penalty kick tonight. His nine goals and four assists are new career bests for Mora with the Timbers. In his last 10 games, Mora has scored seven goals and tallied two assists. Four of those goals have come in road matches for Portland.

Claudio Bravo leads the league in tackles won with 42.
Santiago Moreno made his second appearance for the Timbers.

The Timbers will play their final match of a five-game road trip against the Vancouver Whitecaps on Friday, Sept. 10, at BC Place.
