
Timbers Drop Result against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium

FRISCO, Tex. - The Portland Timbers dropped their first result of the year against FC Dallas at Toyota Stadium on Saturday night. Jaroslaw Niezgoda got Portland on the scoresheet in the second half with an assist from Sebastián Blanco. The Timbers resume action on Sun., March 27 against Orlando City at Providence Park; kickoff is set for 1 p.m. (Pacific) on ESPN.
2022 Campaign Firsts
Jaroslaw Niezgoda recorded his first goal of the season. Niezgoda is the fourth different Timber to score for Portland this season. In 34 appearances overall, Niezgoda has 11 goals. Sebastián Blanco tallied his first goal contribution of the year, assisting Niezgoda in the 61st minute. In 131 matches played for the Timbers, Blanco's registered 33 goals and 43 assists. His 43 assists rank as second-most in club history, behind Diego Valeri (91). David Ayala earned his first career start for the Timbers, while Dario Zuparic and Blake Bodily each made their season debuts for Portland.

DAL - Jesús Ferreira (Alan Velasco), 26th minute: From the left width, Alan Velasco played a square ball across the 18-yard box. Paul Arriola dummied it, leaving it for Jesús Ferreira, who ricocheted a shot off the crossbar and over the goal line.
DAL - Jesús Ferreira (Nanu), 30th minute: Ferreira played the ball wide for Nanu and made a run into the box. Nanu curled a one-touch cross back into the penalty area, finding the head of Ferreira who drilled it into the back of the net.
DAL - Jesús Ferreira (Brandon Servania), 36th minute: Brandon Servania danced with the ball on top of the 18-yard box, making space to play a short square ball to Ferreira. Ferreira touched the ball into space and fired a low and hard shot inside the right goal post.
POR - Jaroslaw Niezgoda (Sebastián Blanco), 61st minute: Sebastián Blanco sent a long ball forward for Jaroslaw Niezgoda from the halfway mark. Settling it out of the air near the top of the box, Niezgoda chipped a left-footed shot past the Dallas goalkeeper and defender, perfectly placing it into the far-side netting.
DAL - Paul Arriola (Jesús Ferreira), 77th minute: Jesús Ferreira slipped a leading pass for Arriola into the box. Arriola took several touches and placed it low into the far post corner.
Notes
The Timbers have scored at least one goal in 11-straight MLS matches, dating back to Oct. 27, 2021, scoring 20 in that run.
Jaroslaw Niezgoda scored his first goal of the 2022 campaign, and his 11th overall.
Sebastián Blanco registered his first assist of the season, and 43rd overall.
Blanco has the second-most assists in club history, behind Diego Valeri with 91.

Blake Bodily subbed into the final minutes of the match, marking his season debut.
Bodily's appearance was his 10th with the Timbers, surpassing 200 MLS minutes played.
