Houston Dynamo FC News Release
HOUSTON - Houston Dynamo FC forced at 1-1 draw with the Colorado Rapids after netting a goal in the final minute of regulation at PNC Stadium on Saturday night.
Dynamo forward Tyler Pasher, who came on as a substitute in the 72nd minute, scored the equalizer in the 90th minute after a mistake by Colorado's goalkeeper. The 'keeper mishit a clearance and it fell to midfielder Memo Rodriguez 35 yards from goal. Rodriguez reacted quickly and played Pasher in behind the defense, where the forward slipped the ball just inside the left post to put Houston on level terms and give the Dynamo a crucial point at home.
The Rapids scored the first goal of the game in the 42nd minute off a corner kick from Jack Price. Dynamo goalkeeper Steve Clark went up for the ball and collided with Danny Wilson, allowing the ball to fall to the waiting foot of Mark-Anthony Kaye at the far post.
Colorado came up with the first big chance of the game 10 minutes in when forward Jonathan Lewis got free for a shot inside the penalty area, but Clark came up with a big diving save to push the ball wide of the target. The Dynamo shot stopper was called into action again in the 25th minute when he saved a shot from Rapids forward Michael Barrios from outside the box.
Houston's best opportunity of the first half came from Dynamo midfielder Matías Vera when he forced goalkeeper William Yarbrough off his line in the 15th minute with a one-touch strike from outside the box.
Houston nearly equalized in the 49th minute off a cross from Dynamo forward Corey Baird that found forward Sebastian Ferreira inside the box, but his effort bounced off the back of his shoulder and over the crossbar.
Clark came up with another big save in the 75th minute when he denied Kaye in a one-on-one situation off of a Colorado counterattack. Clark finished the game with four saves on the night.
The Dynamo return to league play on the road on April 2 against Inter Miami CF. Houston return to PNC Stadium on April 9 to host Cristian Espinoza and the San Jose Earthquakes. For tickets and additional information, visit HoustonDynamoFC.com.
