
Timbers Draw 1-1 Against Nashville SC at Providence Park

PORTLAND, Ore. - The Portland Timbers (7-6-11, 32pts) earned a 1-1 draw against Nashville SC (8-7-9, 33pts) at Providence Park on Wednesday night, extending their unbeaten streak to nine games. After conceding first in the 20th minute, Santiago Moreno responded with the game-tying goal just seven minutes later to help Portland secure a point.
Moreno Momentum
With his game-tying goal in the 27th minute, Moreno tallied his fifth goal of the season. Moreno became Portland's fifth player to record five or more goals this season (Moreno, Jaroslaw Niezgoda, Sebastián Blanco, Bill Tuiloma, Dairon Asprilla). Notably, Moreno finished the night with a 100% passing completion rate on 43 passes. The 22-year-old attacker has registered a goal contribution in three straight matches, tallying one goal and three assists. In Portland's nine-game unbeaten streak, Moreno has racked up 12 points through four goals and four assists. Overall, he has recorded four goals and 11 assists in 36 appearances (20 starts) since joining the Timbers in August of 2021.
Portland's Points
With 32 points through 24 matches this season, the Timbers are just three points out of third place in the Western Conference. Portland extended its unbeaten run to nine matches tonight, posting a record of 4-0-5 since June 18, 2022. During their unbeaten run, the Timbers have outscored their opponents 19-11, tallying multiple goals in six of the nine matches, and at least one goal in 10 straight matches. Portland is currently the only team in the league that has five goal scorers with five or more goals each. The Timbers secured their fourth-straight comeback result tonight (1-0-3), earning six points after conceding first to Nashville, Minnesota, San Jose and Vancouver.

NSH - Teal Bunbury (Sean Davis), 20th minute: Nashville's corner kick took a deflection in the box and fell to the feet of Sean Davis, who played a square ball in the box for Teal Bunbury to slip into the back of the net.
POR - Santiago Moreno, 27th minute: Off a short corner kick, Yimmi Chara lofted a cross into the penalty area. Nashville attempted to clear it with a header, but Santiago Moreno pounced on the loose ball, drilling a one-time shot through Nashville goalkeeper Joe Willis' legs.

Portland extended its undefeated streak to nine games (4-0-5).
The Timbers nine-game unbeaten run marks the club's longest streak since the 2018 season when Portland went 14 straight matches undefeated.
Tonight's result marks a fourth-straight comeback result for the Timbers (1-0-3), having conceded first against Nashville, Minnesota, San Jose and Vancouver.
The Timbers are unbeaten against Nashville SC in their three matchups since Nashville's inaugural 2020 season (1-0-2).
Portland has scored in 10 consecutive matches, tallying 20 goals during that stretch.
The Timbers have recorded 40 goals scored in 2022, which is tied for fourth-most in the league.
Portland has scored 40 or more goals in 11 of its 12 MLS seasons.
Moreno registered his fifth goal of the season.
