
Timbers Defeat Seattle Sounders FC 2-1 at Centurylink Field

SEATTLE - The Portland Timbers notched a late second-half goal to register a 2-1 win on the road against Cascadia-rival Seattle Sounders FC at CenturyLink Field on Sunday night. Eryk Williamson tallied his first career MLS goal, and also added an assist, helping set up the game winner from Felipe Mora in the 83rd minute.
Against Seattle
With the win, Portland is unbeaten in its last four regular-season road contests against Seattle, posting a record of 3-0-1 in those matches. Notably, the Timbers have won three consecutive matches in league play at CenturyLink Field, scoring multiple goals in all three victories. It marks the first time in the club's MLS era that the Timbers have won three straight regular-season matches at Seattle. In five road matches against Sounders FC across all competitions since head coach Giovanni Savarese began coaching the club in 2018, Portland holds a 4-1-0 record, including a 4-2 penalty shootout win at CenturyLink Field in the second leg of the Western Conference Semifinals of the MLS Cup Playoffs on Nov. 8, 2018.
Mora Rolling
With his goal against Seattle, Mora scored for a third consecutive match, recording his first game-winning goal for Portland. He is now tied for second on the team with three goals this season. Mora is the first Timbers player to score in three MLS regular-season matches in less than ten days in club history. He is also the second Portland player (Jeremy Ebobisse) this season to score a goal in three consecutive matches.
Williamson's Night
Williamson recorded his first career MLS goal in the match and tallied an assist. He is the 21st different player to have a goal and assist in the same MLS match for the Timbers. Additionally, Williamson is the 60th different player to score in an MLS match for Portland. Williamson's assist in the match was his second of the season.
Goal-Scoring Plays
POR - Eryk Williamson (Diego Valeri), 9th minute: Williamson played a quick pass to Diego Valeri near the edge of the box. Valeri played a one-touch pass right back to Williamson, who continued his run into the box and finished into the bottom right corner of the goal.
SEA - Kelvin Leerdam, 42nd minute: Kelvin Leerdam pounced on the loose ball bouncing just outside the box and fired a powerful strike into the back of the net.
POR - Felipe Mora (Eryk Williamson), 83rd minute: Mora made a perfectly-timed run from just outside the box and Williamson slotted a well-weighted pass to Mora, who converted from the center of the box.

The Timbers are unbeaten in their last four road matches against Seattle, posting a record of 3-0-1.
Portland has won three consecutive regular-season road matches against Sounders FC. It marks the first time Portland has won three consecutive road games against Seattle in the club's MLS era.
Felipe Mora tallied a goal for a third consecutive match.
Mora is the first Timbers player to score in three MLS regular-season matches in less than ten days in club history.

Valeri recorded his ninth career assist in 20 regular-season matches against Sounders FC. His assist in the match was his third of the season.
Valeri's nine assists against Seattle are tied for the most assists by a Timbers player against a single opponent (Valeri, Vancouver Whitecaps FC).

The Timbers play a second straight match on the road, squaring off against Los Angeles FC on Sunday, Sept. 13, at Banc of California Stadium.
