
Tigers Wrap up Road Trip

BURLINGTON, VT - The Connecticut Tigers (3-2) dropped the final game of the series to the Vermont Lake Monsters (1-4), affiliate of the Oakland Athletics, 5-1 on Tuesday at Centennial Field.
The Tigers trailed early after Lake Monster right fielder Jhonny Rodriguez delivered a sacrifice fly in the first inning.
Jose Vasquez settled in for the Tigers, working five innings and allowing just the one earned, while striking out three.
Felix Viloria came out of the pen and dealt two scoreless innings, allowing a hit and striking out four batters.
The game remained 1-0 Vermont until the top of the eighth inning. After a Keaton Jones single, Jones swiped second to get into scoring position for Victor Padron. After a lengthy encounter between Padron and RHP Jesus Zambrano. Padron slapped an RBI-single down the left field line to knot the game up at one.
The Lake Monsters responded in the bottom half of the inning, scoring four runs on three hits, two errors, a wild pitch and a couple walks. The Lake Monsters sent 10 batters to the plate to break the game open. Tyler Willman closed out the ninth giving Vermont their first win of the year.
The Tigers head home tomorrow for Opening Night at Dodd Stadium against the Brooklyn Cyclones, affiliate of the New York Mets, first pitch at 7:05 p.m. There will be a magnetic schedule giveaway presented by Dime Bank to the first 4,000 fans that pass through the gates. Stick around after the game for Post-Game Fireworks presented by Pyrotecnico.
The Connecticut Tigers are the New York-Penn League affiliate of the Detroit Tigers and play a 76 game schedule that runs from mid-June through early September. 2016 season tickets, group tickets, mini plans, individual game tickets, and team merchandise are now on sale!
