Edmonton, AB.: The Medicine Hat Tigers scored all three types of goals in the opening period against the Edmonton Oil Kings and cruised to a 7-1 win. The Tigers scored at even strength, shorthanded and twice on the power play in the opening frame to pave the way to victory. The Oil Kings are in a slump having lost four games in a row.

"That's the worst performance I've seen in the two and a half years that I've been here," said Head Coach Steve Pleau. "That's unacceptable from every stand point. We were outplayed, outcompeted, outcoached, out everythinged."

Things started fast and furious as the teams exchanged goals in the opening minute. New Oil King Josh Koper got back at his old team 30 seconds in with a goal, but the Tigers rebounded with a marker from Bretton Cameron, just 10 seconds later, to even the score. Then Medicine Hat rattled off the next three goals. Emerson Etem bagged a shorthanded tally and Tristen King scored two in a row on the power play to make it 4-1 after one.

The Tigers Jace Coyle chased Oil King starter Cam Lanigan from the net with a goal early in the third. Lanigan let in five goals on 15 shots and suffered his first loss of the season. Medicine Hat completed the scoring in the third with goals from Matt MacKay and Linden Vey to make the final 7-1.

The third place Oil Kings (6-8-0-2) are losing ground in the Central Division. They are six back of second place Medicine Hat (8-3-2-2) and eight back of the first place Calgary Hitmen.

Edmonton closes out this three game home stand on October 28th. The Seattle Thunderbirds are in for their only visit to Rexall Place on Sonic Wiener Wednesday. The Oil Kings visit the Saskatoon Blades on Friday, October 30th. They return home to host the Everett Silvertips on November 1st, which is Signature Sunday.
