Silvertips Bounced by Vancouver

The Vancouver Giants stopped Everett's four game winning streak Friday night defeating the Silvertips 4-2. Dale Hunt and Markus McCrea scored for Everett Friday night. Radko Gudas, Alex Theriau, Kellan Tochkin and Zack Dailey all had an assist each in Vancouver. The Silvertips could only get within one goal Friday night after surrendering a 2-0 deficit going into the third period. A strong third period had Everett scoring two goals on six shots but Vancouver found an empty net at 19:20 to put away a 4-2 victory.

After a scoreless first period Vancouver put up the first tally of the night at 2:27 of the second period. Craig Cunningham scored his eight goal of the season to put the Giants up 1-0. Vancouver increased their score to 2-0 after converting on the power play. Brendan Gallagher put up his sixth of the season at 14:04 to conclude scoring in the second period.

McCrea added his third goal of the year on the power play to move the score to 2-1 at 2:47. Gallagher struck again on the power play at 8:42 to increase Vancouver's lead to 3-1. The Silvertips continued to battle finding Hunt's first goal of the season at 14:45. Everett pulled Thomas Heemskerk late in the game for the extra attacker but Vancouver found the empty net at 19:20 to seal a 4-2 win.

This brings the 'Tips record to 6-3-0-0 with 12 points in 9 games played. The Silvertips come back down to Everett tomorrow night for a meeting at 7:05 pm Saturday night against the Brandon Wheat Kings!
