Tigers Strike Twice in Extras to Stun Hudson Valley

Norwich, CT - Ryan Kreidler and Kingston Liniak each delivered a walk-off single, and the Connecticut Tigers (29-30) swept a doubleheader against the Hudson Valley Renegades (35-24) with two wins by a final score of 2-1. These were the second and third walk-off wins in Connecticut this season.

Game 1:

There were no runs scored by either side until the extra frame of the contest. Edison Gonzalez went six innings with no runs on one hit with a walk and seven strikeouts.

For the Tigers, the by committee appearances came from Marco Jimenez and Raul De Los Reyes. Jimenez went four innings with no runs on three hits, two walks and four strikeouts. De Los Reyes went three innings with four hits, no runs and five strikeouts.

Kory Behenna (Win, 4-1) took over in extra innings for the Tigers. After allowing the predetermined runner from second to score on an RBI single from Mason Mallard, Behenna set down the Renegades in order to bring the Tigers back to the plate trailing 1-0.

In the bottom half of the inning, Avery Tuck tripled down the line off of Joe LaSorsa (Loss, 5-2) to score Andrew Navigato from second. After a strikeout and a walk, Kreidler delivered a long single over the head of the right fielder to win the game 2-1 for the Tigers.

Game 2:

Both teams did not score through the entirety of regulation. Kyle Thomas, Chavez Fernander and Bryce Tassin combined to pitch seven innings with three hits, no runs and six strikeouts.

Evan McKendry went six innings for the Renegades with no runs on one hit and seven strikeouts. Andrew Magno (Win, 1-0) came in to pitch the top of the eighth for the Tigers in extra innings.

Luis Trevino gave Hudson Valley the lead on an infield single on the right side to make it 1-0. Magno stranded two base-runners by ending the inning with a strikeout.

In the bottom half of the inning, Gresuan Silverio reached on an error by the pitcher Jose Roca (Loss, 2-3) to put runners at first and second. Jordan Verdon followed with a single up the middle to load the bases. Liniak delivered the winning hit with a two-RBI single over the head of the center fielder to win it 2-1.

The Connecticut Tigers will be back in action tomorrow for the final game against Hudson Valley with Friday Fireworks presented by Liberty Bank following the contest.
