
Tigers Sign Watson to WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement

Medicine Hat, AB - The Medicine Hat Tigers are proud to announce the signing of 2023 WHL Draft Pick Avery Watson, (Edmonton, AB) to a WHL Scholarship & Development Agreement.
Watson was selected in the 8th round, 159th overall during the draft in May 2023.
Tigers Director of Player Personnel Bobby Fox says Watson's development from Spring Camp to this season's Fall Camp has seen plenty of progression and has earned a spot in the Tigers Prospect pool.
"Avery is an intelligent and skilled forward," he says. "He has great hands, vision and touch around the net."
Watson played for the Knights of Columbus Squires U15 AAA program during the 2022-2023 Alberta Elite Hockey League season. Scoring 52 points (24 goals, 28 assists) in 34 games. He also played for Team Alberta Gold at the Alberta Cup this past spring registering three assists in five games.
Watson will make his Tigers debut Tuesday, September 5 against the Lethbridge Hurricanes in WHL Pre-Season action.
The Tigers open the pre-season Tuesday, September 5 on the road in Lethbridge, before returning home Saturday, September 9 against the Hurricanes.
Medicine Hat wraps up the pre-season with a home-at-home series with the Swift Current Broncos, starting home on Friday, September 15, before finishing things out on Saturday, September 16.
Pre-season home game tickets are available at the Tigers Office, Tickets are $20 and the office is open from 9 AM to 5 PM on weekdays.
The Tigers open the 2023-2024 WHL Regular Season on Friday, September 22 against the Calgary Hitmen on the road before the Home-Opener against Calgary on Saturday, September 23.
