Everett Silvertips News Release

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips have officially signed goaltender Finn Werner to a WHL Scholarship and Development Agreement.

Werner, an '08-born St. Albert, AB native, posted stellar numbers with the St. Albert Sabres U15 AAA last season. His 21-1-0 record with a 2.23 goals-against average and .923 save percentage earned him AEHL U15 Top Goaltender honors as well as a First-Team All-Star nod.

"I'm super excited to be an Everett Silvertip," said Werner. "I've heard so many great things about the organization. [I] couldn't be playing in front of a better fanbase. I'm looking forward to getting started the next couple years and hopefully win a championship here."

Selected 54th-overall in the third round of the 2023 WHL Draft, Werner further impressed Silvertips scouts and staffers at Everett's Training Camp in early September.

"We're excited to welcome Finn and his family to our organization," commented Silvertips general manager/head coach Dennis Williams. "Finn has already displayed a sense of calmness in net and has a strong work ethic. We feel he has a bright future with our organization and we look forward to helping him become a professional player."

"Finn brings added quality to our depth in goal," noted Everett goaltending coach James Jensen. "He is athletic, with a solid foundational skillset. It's exciting for us to have guys like this developing in the wings."

Werner was superb in his 2021-22 campaign as well, notching a 15-0-1 record with a 1.56 goals-against average and a .941 save percentage en route to a AEHL U15 championship. He participated in the John Reid Bantam tournament with his Sabres teammates last season, as well as backstopping Team Gold in the 2023 Alberta Cup.

By signing a Scholarship and Development Agreement, Werner is guaranteed a WHL Scholarship for every year he plays in the WHL.
