
Royals Welcome McDonald as Team's First Director of Mental Performance

Victoria, BC - The Victoria Royals are pleased to announce the hiring of Kyle McDonald as the Director of Mental Performance. McDonald will bring a wealth of experience to his new role in Victoria which includes time spent with Hockey Canada, the Arizona Coyotes, Hockey Saskatchewan and a variety of CHL franchises.
McDonald will serve as the team's first Director of Mental Performance as the Club continues to round out its hockey operations staff. This new position will play a pivotal role in the development of Royals' players both on and off the ice.
"I am very excited to be leading the Royals mental performance department as we expand our player development with progressive initiatives," said McDonald. "To support players and staff in their quest to be their best versions and to bring another component in creating our high performance environment is something that the organization evidently prioritizes".
Academically, Kyle's research at the University of Regina focuses on mentality in high performance environments. He will also continue in his roles consulting for Notre Dame and the Indigenous Sports Academy who partake in the Canadian Sport School Hockey League (CSSHL).
"We are very excited to welcome Kyle to the Victoria Royals and his progressive application of mental performance will serve as a strong addition to our staff," said Vice President of Hockey Operations, Joey Poljanowski.
