Medicine Hat Tigers News Release
Medicine Hat, AB - A night to remember for Liam Ruck (Osoyoos, BC) as the Medicine Hat Tigers made pay-dirt in a 8-0 shutout over the Regina Pats Wednesday night.
The Tigers opened the scoring at 13:39 on their first power-play of the night as Oasiz Wiesblatt (Calgary, AB) would tap home his 6th of the season to give the Tigers a 1-0 lead. Cayden Lindstrom (Chetwynd, BC) & Andrew Basha (Calgary, AB) contributed on the man-advantage.
Into the second period the office would continue on the power play as once again Wiesblatt would get his second of the night and 7th on the campaign just 39 seconds into it to push the lead to 2-0. Gavin McKenna (Whitehorse, YT) & Tomas Mrsic (Surrey, BC) would get on the scoresheet and keeping the Tigers power-play perfect on the night.
After a pair of saves from goaltender Evan May (Nanaimo, BC), the Tigers would counter and in his WHL debut, Liam Ruck would beat Pats goaltender Ewan Huet for the 3-0 lead at 12:31 from Kadon McCann (Cochrane, AB). That lead would continue to mount for Medicine Hat as a shot from his stomach and Shane Smith (Cessford, AB) would sneak his 12th of the year for the 4-0 lead from Matt Paranych (Edmonton, AB) & Hunter St.Martin (Edmonton, AB) at 13:51.
The Tigers would'nt be through yet as Cayden Lindstrom would fire his 17th of the season past Huet at 17:05 from captain Tyler MacKenzie (Red Deer, AB) & Bogdans Hodass (Jelgava, LAT) to complete the scoring from the 2nd.
Medicine Hat would continue to keep up the offence as Kadon McCann would put in the work in front of the Pats net at 5:13 to make it 6-0 Tigers. Hodass & Liam Ruck would chip in for multi-point nights. Bogdans Hodass wasn't finished either as he broke-in for this third goal of the season just moments later at 7:21 to make it 7-0 as Shane Smith and Matt Paranych would add to their point totals on the night. Capping the night off was Cayden Lindstrom back-handing his second of the night and 17th of the season at 13:27. While Hodass would complete his four-point night.
Evan May made 23 saves for his 2nd shutout of the season while the Tigers power play went a perfect 2/2 and a clean sheet on the penalty kill as the the Tigers would take care of their only infraction on the night.
Next up for the Tigers. A rematch of last Saturday's game against the Brandon Wheat Kings at Co-op Place this coming Saturday, November 25.
