Silvertips Take Down Eastern Conference Leading Blades 6-2

EVERETT, Wash. - The Everett Silvertips bested the Eastern Conference-leading Saskatoon Blades on Wednesday night at Angel of the Winds Arena by a 6-2 score.

Rhett Melnyk got the Blades on the board first with his first goal of the season at 2:27 in the first period. Austin Roest responded with a wrist shot through traffic at 6:27, followed up by a breakaway slapshot by Dominik Rymon just 33 seconds later to give Everett the lead. The goal chased starting netminder Austin Elliott from the crease as he was relieved by Evan Gardner.

Roest added his second goal of the night at 13:52 while on the powerplay for a 3-1 Everett advantage heading into the first intermission.

Jesse Heslop tallied the lone goal of the second period off an Eric Jamieson rebound, his seventh of the season.

Eric Jamieson buried his fifth of the season 13:10 into the third period. While Lukas Hansen gave the Blades their second goal of the contest, Hayden Smith potted a powerplay goal with eight seconds remaining in regulation for his first as a Silvertip sealing a 6-2 final.

Tyler Palmer stopped 26 of 28 in the win. Everett is now 10-2-1 at home and have won five straight at AOTW.
