Medicine Hat, AB - The Medicine Hat Tigers Wednesday morning made a deal with the Vancouver Giants as they sent overage forward and last year's leading scorer Trevor Cox to the Giants in exchange for 96 born defenseman Clayton Kirichenko and a 2018 2nd Round Bantam Draft pick.
For the Tigers they acquire Kirichenko, a 6'0 196lb defenseman from Sherwood Park, AB who in 130 WHL games with Vancouver and Saskatoon has 34 points (9G, 25A). Currently this season, Kirichenko has 9 points in 12 games with the Giants, just 4 points behind his personal best and ranks 14th in WHL defenseman scoring.
"We want to thank Trevor for everything he has done for our team over the past 4 seasons," stated Head Coach and General Manager Shaun Clouston, "We wish him all the best with Vancouver this season."
With the move, the Tigers are now down to the league mandated 3 overage players and currently have 22 players on their roster (13 forwards, 7 defenseman, 2 goalies).
