Edmonton Oil Kings News Release
EDMONTON, ALTA. - The Edmonton Oil Kings had no answer for the Prince Albert Raiders Wednesday night.
Rylan Parenteau made 24 saves and the Raiders (11-2-0-1), newly minted Wednesday afternoon as the fourth ranked team in the CHL, defeated the Oil Kings (3-8-3-0) 4-0 in Prince Albert to hand Edmonton its eighth straight loss.
The Oil Kings opened the game with a strong first period, outshooting the Raiders 9-6 before Prince Albert took over in the second.
The Raiders outshot Edmonton 18-8 in the middle frame and broke a scoreless tie as Jesse Lees' point shot hit Matteo Gennaro in front and bounced past Patrick Dea in the Edmonton goal.
The Raiders added three more in the third period as Dallas Warkentine was the beneficiary of a partially blocked shot that wound up on his stick with an open net in front of him, Reid Gardiner tallied shorthanded and Simon Stransky rounded out the scoring with a late power play goal.
Dea finished with 29 saves for the Oil Kings. Lees and Austin Glover each had two point nights for the Raiders, who won their seventh in a row.
Edmonton will be back in action Thursday night as they finish off a quick two-game road trip with a stop in Saskatoon. The team returns to Rexall Place Sunday at 4 p.m. as the take on the Spokane Chiefs.
