Norfolk Tides News Release

Jason Dubois drove in two and Andy Mitchell turned in another strong outing, leading the Tides to a 3-1 win over the Rochester Red Wings in game two of a doubleheader Sunday.

Dubois doubled home Terry Tiffee in the 4th inning and hit a solo home run in the 6th, helping the Tides split the twinbill. Rochester won game one, 6-3.

Norfolk plated its initial run of the contest in the top of the first inning on back-to-back triples off the bats of Tike Redman and Brandon Fahey. Redman now has three triples and is hitting .481 with 12 runs scored in nine games played with the Tides, while Fahey is hitting .600 (9-for-15) with five extra-base hits over his last four games.

Andy Mitchell (4-2) picked up his team-leading fourth win of the season with another strong outing in a spot start. Mitchell threw a career-high 5.2 innings, allowing one run on three hits while striking out two.

Norfolk closer Cory Doyne retired the final four batters of the game to pick up his 11th save of the season.

Jason Miller (1-1) suffered the loss for Rochester, allowing two runs on six hits in 4.0 innings.

The two clubs continue the series on Monday night, with a 7:15 contest from Harbor Park. Rob Bell (1-1, 2.74) takes the hill for the Tides against Rochester right-hander Brian Bass (1-0, 5.40).
