Windy City ThunderBolts News Release
CRESTWOOD, IL - The Lake Erie Crushers scored two runs in the seventh inning to break a tie and beat the ThunderBolts 4-3 at Ozinga Field Friday night.
The ThunderBolts (14-24) used the home run ball to get on the board early. Rob Calabrese hit his second in as many nights, a solo shot in the first inning, to make it 1-0. In the second inning, John Sechen hit a solo bomb of his own, his first professional homer to double the lead.
Lake Erie (21-18) tied it up in the top of the fourth. Trevor Achenbach hit a leadoff single and he was followed by Brody Wofford and Connor Oliver, who hit back-to-back doubles.
Outside of the fourth inning, Logan Wiley, starting his second game of the season, was sharp. He went into the seventh inning with the 2-2 tie score. Then Eric Callahan hit a leadoff single and moved to third on an error. Javier Betancourt walked and both men scored on an Achenbach base hit.
The ThunderBolts tightened it up with a run in the eighth. They loaded the bases on a double, a walk and an error. Rob Weissheier followed with an RBI infield single that made the score 4-3.
In the ninth, the Bolts loaded the bases with two outs, but Daniel Kight struck out Rob Calabrese to end the game.
Ryan Feierabend (3-2) went six innings and gave up two runs to earn the win. Wiley (0-1) allowed four runs in 6.1 innings and took the loss. Kight notched his sixth save.
The six-game homestand continues with game two against Lake Erie on Saturday night. Jake Fisher (2-3, 6.05) starts for the Bolts against the Crushers' Aaron Glickstein (2-1, 4.09). It is Country Night at Ozinga Field with a pregame concert from Strawdawg Band starting at 4:15. Links to the audio and video broadcasts can be found at wcthunderbolts.com.
