New York Boulders News Release

The Washington Wild Things took advantage of some shaky seventh inning fielding by the New York Boulders and rallied for a 4-2 win on Friday night at Wild Things Park in Washington, PA.

The victory was Washington's fourth straight.

The Wild Things took advantage of pair of Boulders' errors and combined it with four hits to push across four runs in the bottom of the seventh inning to take a 4-2 lead.

Trevor Casanova led off with an infield single, his third hit of the night; then, one out later, Brian Sharp's single put runners on first and third and ended New York starter Ryan Munoz' night. Nick Ward greeted reliever James Mulry with a hard-hit single to right field, his third hit of the evening, that rolled under the glove of Boulders' rightfielder Kevonte Mitchell and rolled to the wall, allowing Sharp to score the tying run and Ward to race around to third base.

Adrian Gomez then drew a walk before Grant Heyman laced a double to right that plated Ward and left runners on second and third - the hit giving the Wild Things a 3-2 lead. Bralin Jackson followed by lifting a fly ball to right that was dropped by Mitchell, his second error of the frame, that allowed Gomez to score to increase the Washington advantage to 4-2.

Luke Burton came on to replace Mulry and struck out Andrew Czech and Hector Roa to end the inning.

The Boulders had taken a 2-0 lead in the fifth inning on Ray Hernandez' two-run home run to left, his 10th long ball of the season.

Both starters gave their teams quality efforts. Munoz went 6 1/3 innings and surrendered seven hits while walking two and striking out one. He was charged with two runs. Meanwhile, the Wild Things' McKenzie Mills went seven full frames and allowed just those two runs on only three hits, while walking one and striking out five.

Mulry was tagged with the loss for New York, falling to 3-2 on the year, while Mills picked up his first win of the season against three losses for the Wild Things.

Jesus Belaguer pitched a scoreless eighth inning before Alex Boshers came on to record his first save of the season in his Wild Things' debut.
