THUNDER CLAIM FOUR MORE- Wichita hit the road for two games on Friday and Saturday before returning home for the season finale with Missouri. On Friday night, Evansville prevailed in the battle of the top two teams in the CHL. Wichita took an early 2-0 lead in the second period, but the IceMen quickly climbed back into the game and came out victorious, 4-3. RG Flath, Matt Summers and TJ Miller netted goals for Wichita in the losing effort. On Saturday night, the Thunder renewed its rivalry with Missouri at the Independence Events Center. Matt Summers scored a power play goal early in the first period to get the Thunder going, but the Mavericks came right back and tied the game at one. With four minutes remaining in the first, Matt Robinson scored off a centering feed from Aaron Davis and gave Wichita a 2-1 advantage. Robinson added another and tallied his eighth game-winning goal of the year, helping Wichita to the 3-2 win. The two teams traveled back to Wichita Sunday afternoon and the Thunder rallied to defeat the Mavericks 4-2. Wichita found itself in an early hole, trailing 2-0. However, Robinson scored twice and RG Flath tied the game on the power play in the third period. Summers scored the eventual game-winner after putting home his own rebound. Wichita took four out of a possible six points on the weekend and moved seven points clear of Allen in first place. Wichita closed out the season series against the Mavericks with an exclamation point, going 7-2-0 this season and taking all four games in Missouri.

DOWN TO 1- With four more points over the weekend, Wichita inched closer to clinching its second consecutive playoff berth. The Thunder needs one more point to assure itself of making it back to the post-season. If Rio Grande Valley loses on Tuesday to Laredo in regulation, Wichita will be the first team in the CHL to claim a berth in the playoffs. If Rio Grande Valley wins, the Thunder can take care of business itself with a win on Wednesday against Evansville.

PACKIN' THE HOUSE- Sunday afternoon was the third-largest crowd in franchise history as 10,214 fans came out to watch the Thunder beat Missouri. The largest crowd in franchise history was on January 23rd, 2010 against Tulsa (13,412) which is also the first game the Thunder played at INTRUST Bank Arena. Three of the top five largest crowds have happened this season, all of which have topped 10,000. Wichita is second in overall attendance in the CHL, averaging 6,414 fans per game. The franchise-best for average attendance in a season dates back to 1994-95, when Wichita averaged 6,525 per game.

TWO STEP- Matt Robinson followed up his Player of the Week honors with another terrific weekend. On Friday, he scored twice against Missouri and notched his eighth game-winner of the season and now leads the league in that category. He followed that up with two more on Sunday afternoon to help Wichita come from behind to beat the Mavericks 4-2. Robinson leads the Thunder with 29 goals and is third in the CHL in goals scored. In the month of February, he has four multi-goal games and seven on the season. Robinson is just one goal shy of reaching 30 for the second-consecutive year and moved into 10th place all-time in Thunder history for goals scored (68).

STREAKS - Matt Summers extended his point-scoring streak to seven games with two more points (1g, 1a) on Sunday afternoon. He has 12 points in that span, three goals and nine assists. Robinson has scored 18 points in his past 12 games (12g, 6a) and is on a three game point-scoring streak. Aaron Davis and Thomas Beauregard are both on three game point streaks as well.

CLOSING TIME- Wichita is at the top of many categories in the CHL, but the most important stat to look at may just be the Thunder's ability to shut down its opponent in the third period. Wichita has outscored teams this season by a wide margin in the final frame. The Thunder holds a 75-45 edge in scoring against the other teams in the league in the third. Wichita outscored Missouri 18-6 in the final period in their nine meetings this season.
