Thunder to Give Away Scholarships at College Night

Wichita, KS (February 14th) - The Wichita Thunder of the Central Hockey League powered by Toyota, is excited to announce that the team will be awarding a pair of scholarships on College Fair Night to two lucky individuals coming up on February 28th against the Tulsa Oilers.

Several local institutions will be at the game to share information about their school. Fans will be encouraged to sign up for a 'passport' and then will be asked to visit each booth on the concourse. When they are finished, they will be registered into a drawing where one high school student and one adult student will be awarded a $500 scholarship. The scholarships are good for up to one calendar year. Each college will also be giving away a door prize during the second intermission.

"We are excited that the Wichita Thunder is helping to provide back to and invest in the continued education and growth of young people in our community," said Bryan Wilson, Executive Coordinator Support Services for USD 259. "We need to ensure that young people are involved in civic activities and supporting local sports, non-profits, education and basic structures of strong communities is inherent to good citizenry. It is the Thunder's stance that creating strong fans of our community and events like this help keep Wichita strong."

Wichita will make its first-ever trip to Canada to take on the Brampton Beast for a three-game set starting tonight. The Thunder return home on Friday, February 21st against the Allen Americans at 7:05 p.m.
