Arizona Earns 4-2 Win over the Americans

Allen, Texas - The Allen Americans faced off against the Arizona Sundogs on Thursday night at the Allen Event Center . The Americans started off strong but ultimately fell to the Sundogs 4-2.
The Americans got on the board late in the first, when Alex Lavoie, found the back of the net for his 22 nd of the season, assisted by Mike Berube and Jonathan Zion with 3:42 remaining in the frame. Allen headed into the first intermission leading 1-0, with Arizona leading in shots with 15-10.
The Americans jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead, 5:35 into the second period, when Jonathon Zion netted the puck. The goal, a power play goal, was assisted by Jonathan Lessard and Alex Lavoie.
The Sundogs cut the Americans' lead in half 6:46 into the frame when Justin Pender scored from Kevin Baker and Garrett Clarke. The Sundogs then went on to score two more unanswered goals, 19 seconds apart, giving them a 3-2 lead over the Americans. The first goal, a power play goal, by Mike McCready, assisted by Bryan Cameron and Jason Morgan at the 12:03 mark of the frame. The next was scored when Riley Emmerson slid one home from in front of the Allen net at the 12:22 mark, with the lone assist going to Garrett Clarke. The Americans headed into the second intermission trailing 3-2 but held a 16-13 edge on shots on goal.
Arizona secured a 4-2 win when Bryan Cameron slid the puck into an empty net, assisted by Jason Morgan and Justin Pender with 39 seconds remaining in the game.
With the loss, the Americans fall to 26-15-4 and Arizona improves to 23-19-3. The Americans are tied for second place with the Rapid City Rush, two points behind the Missouri Mavericks, whom the Americans face off against tomorrow night, Friday the 14 th at 7:05 at the Allen Event Center.
