Missouri Mavericks Take Their Turn on Top of the Sher-Wood CHL Power Rankings

GLENDALE, AZ (February 14, 2014) - The Missouri Mavericks (28-13-2) are the latest team to take over the top spot of the CHL Sher-Wood Power Rankings (Coaches Poll) moving ahead of the #2 Allen Americans (26-15-4). The Mavericks are the third team in the last three polls to have claim on the #1 spot joining Allen and then previously the Rapid City Rush (28-17-0), now #5.
The poll is released on or near the beginning and middle of each month throughout the regular season. Each first place vote receives 10 points, second place votes earn 9 points, etc. Teams are not permitted to vote for themselves.
The Mavericks have won six of their last eight games to bump them ahead of Rapid City and Allen in the standings now leading both by just two points. Things have tightened up with the top eight teams within nine points of each other. Denver is sitting at 54 points closely followed by Quad city at 52, Brampton at 50 and a two way tie between Arizona and Tulsa at 49 points.
The Poll shifted a bit since the last vote with Rapid City falling the furthest (#2 to #5) and Missouri's two spot jump serving as the largest leap (#3 t #1). The Quad City Mallards (#3), Denver Cutthroats (#4) and Rush (#5) round out the top five.
Two other teams joined Missouri (eight first place nods) with a first place vote, the Arizona Sundogs and the Allen Americans. The Sundogs have been moving up the standings winning eight of their last nine games.
