Tulsa Secures Landslide 9-4 Win against Sundogs

Prescott Valley, AZ - The Arizona Sundogs stumbled in a 9-4 loss against the Tulsa Oilers Friday night at the BOK Center suffering quite an upset.

Heading into the first intermission the Sundogs led after picking up two goals in the opening period. The Oilers kicked off the scoring while on the power play 3:56 into the period with a goal from Michel Beausoleil after Garrett Clarke was accessed two minutes for high sticking. A minute later Arizona's Kevin Baker put the Sundogs on the board with a feed from Matt McCready and 20 seconds later Mark Isherwood scored with assists from Clarke and Johan Ryd .

The second period proved to be the game changer for Arizona after Tulsa collected four goals in the middle period. The Oilers scored three unanswered goals, first when Matt Ambroz scored 12:21 into the second, poking the puck off the tip of Justin Pender's stick and right through the legs of Sundogs goaltender, Chris Rawlings. 1:04 later and Ben Gordon ripped the puck and Adam Pleskach posted their third goal in under four minutes. The Sundogs responded, scoring while on the man-advantage when McCready launched the puck through traffic, giving the Sundogs their third goal. The Oilers quickly responded posting their fourth goal of the period and their fifth of the night.

Arizona's, Rawlings gave up three more goals in the final period before Head Coach, Kevin Colley elected to pull him and send in relief goalie Andrew Engelage . Ryan Menei collected a hat trick, scoring two more goals in the third. Todd Robinson and Drew Fisher also tallied goals for the Oilers pushing them to a victory. Mark Isherwood posted one last goal for the Sundogs while on a 5-on-3 power play resulting in a final score of 9-4.

Arizona outshot Tulsa 22-21 and the Sundogs were 2-7 on the power play while the Oilers were 1-6. Round two is set for tomorrow when the action starts at 6:35pm at the BOK Center.
