Last Time vs. Ontario

The Thunder looked to be cruising to a win on the Painted Classic as the team got up to a 2-0 first period lead. John Ryder blasted in his second ever ECHL goal past Joe Cannata and exactly a minute later Peter Sivak scored his ninth of the season to ensure his point streak stretched to 10 games.

Derek Couture cut the deficit to one on the power play in the first but in the second Ryan Hayes scored off a terrific pass from Sivak to restore the two-goal lead. Geoff Walker would pull the Reign within one but the Thunder entered the third with a one goal lead. Judd Blackwater and Rocco Carzo scored in the third and stole the game from the Thunder.

It was the first game all season that the Thunder failed to win, when leading after two periods.

Tonight

The Thunder's six-game road trip continues against the Ontario Reign in what will be game number two of six, city number two of four, and night three of nine. The Thunder are looking to snap a skid of three-straight losses and of four defeats to the Reign this year.

Who to Watch

After being shutout for the second time this season in their last game out, the Thunder will look to their offense in hopes of getting the Thunder some point production.

Call it a hunch but Tyler Shattock has been far too good to go pointless in five games. Shattock's last point came on December 21st at Home against the Idaho Steelheads. In that game Shattock had two assists but since then has been held pointless in his last four (missed one game due to suspension).

Shattock has been held without a point against the Reign this season, so tonight would make for a great time to get his first point and snap a tough streak of pointless performances for the former NHL draft pick.

Road Problems

The Thunder are hoping the road schedule in 2015 treats them better than it did in 2014. The Thunder were 4-12-0 in 16 road games played. Three of the wins were against Bakersfield and one win came against Colorado.

The team started 2015 out with a loss to the Condors at Rabobank Arena and have the matchup today in Ontario, Tuesday and Wednesday in Colorado, and an end of the week series in Utah.

All-Time Watch

We're monitoring the situation between Garet Hunt, Ryan Constant and Mike Lalonde as Lalonde's all-time lead in points could be in danger of falling to one of the Thunder's star players soon.

Lalonde's 156 career points is in jeopardy as Constant pulled ahead with 151 points with the Thunder while Hunt is right behind them both with 146.

That means Constant is just 5 points back of tying the record while Hunt is 10 points back of tying the record. Both players have missed time due to injuries this season as Hunt missed 11 games while Constant was placed on Injured Reserve on December 14.

Hunt is the only one close to Lalonde's all-time record of 72 goals with his 55 markers, putting the Thunder captain 17 shy of tying the record.
