Adirondack Thunder News Release
Glens Falls, NY - The Adirondack Thunder, proud ECHL affiliate of the Calgary Flames, announced today that they have signed forward Cody Freeman.
Freeman, 23, joins the Thunder for his first full professional season, after he made his ECHL debut last season with the Evansville IceMen. Freeman scored in his professional debut last season with the IceMen on March 28 against Toledo and appeared in seven additional regular season games in March and April.
The Toronto, ONT native turned pro after he spent four seasons playing Division One hockey at Canisius College in the AHA. Freeman, who graduated with the school record for postseason goals (10), broke the 20 point mark in each of his last three seasons with the program. Freeman scored a career best 26 points (10-16-26) as a senior, which ranked him third on the Golden Griffins' roster. As a sophomore in 2012-13, Freeman scored a career high 12 goals, which ranked third on the team. As a junior, Freeman helped lead the Golden Griffins to their first ever NCAA Tournament appearance, as he collected two points in the AHA Title Game victory over Mercyhurst.
Prior to joining the Griffins, Freeman spent two seasons of junior hockey in Canada, split between the Nepean Raiders of the CJHL and the Markham Waxers of the OJHL and one in the United States, in the NAHL with the Amarillo Bulls.
