Wichita Thunder News Release

Wichita, KS - The Central Hockey League announced today that Wichita's Adam Russo has been named the Oakley CHL Goaltender of the Week for the period ending Nov. 27, 2011.

The Montreal native was tremendous this past week, going 3-0-0, and helped put Wichita back at the top of the Berry Conference standings. Russo stopped 72 out of 77 shots in the three games, good for a 1.66 GAA, or goals against average, and is now tied for the league-lead with eight wins. Russo stopped 25 out of 26 against rival Missouri this past Wednesday, stopping a three-game losing streak. On Friday night, Russo earned number one star honors for his performance against Tulsa, stopping 27 out of 29 shots and clamped down in the third period to stop Wichita's three-game slide against the Oilers. The two teams returned to Wichita the following night, and Russo had a shutout bid going until midway through the third period before earning a 4-2 victory against Tulsa.

Overall, Russo is 8-2-0 in 10 games and has played in 66% of Wichita's games this season. He is eighth in the league with a 2.64 GAA and is 11th in the league with a .897 save percentage.

The top two teams in their respective conferences will meet this coming Friday at INTRUST Bank Arena as Wichita hosts the Evansville IceMen. Clifford the Big Red Dog will be in attendance that evening. The Thunder will have a rare Saturday off before hosting Tulsa on Sunday at 5:05 p.m. After Sunday, the Thunder and the Oilers will not meet until Christmas Day in Tulsa. For ticket information, call 755-SEAT, visit the INTRUST Bank Arena box office or go online at www.selectaseat.com.
